Our Community Has Been Turned Upside Down!

During the past 5-months covid has turned our community upside down. It is hard losing loved ones to ANYTHING, and our hearts go out to the families who’ve lost loved ones to this virus.

Flu  Facts:

Viruses have been a part of human life for 150,000 years and here on the planet for 5-billion years. The flu happens every year. Thousands of people around the world get sick and most recover. In the year 2015-2016, there were 1,470 people in the state of Hawaii that had flu like symptoms and 478 died. In the 2017-2018 year, there were 1,856 people  in the State had flu like symptoms and 526 died.

In 2018, 80k Americans died of the flu, with no lockdown, face masks or social distancing. Also, in 2018, 1.5 million people died of Tuberculosis, which was barely mentioned on the news. Why is that?

This year covid cases in the state of Hawaii are currently at 4,825 with 40 deaths. That’s 99% recovery. Car accidents have killed more Hawaii citizens this year than covid! Most places around the world have the same recovery rate or close to it. Yet, the governor has signed eleven emergency proclamations, we’ve locked down, covered our faces and distances ourselves from our Ohana.

The governor has shut down businesses; some will never open again. He’s mandated face masks and 14-day quarantines. Stores have been forced to change their operating hours and service structure to support social distancing, which has caused layoffs and more. Our keiki, who have been shown to be the least effected, are now being required to wear face masks and social distance in school which will affect them emotionally for the rest of their lives!
